Owen's Story

Owen started writing novels while homeschooling during the pandemic. After discovering R. L. Stine’s MasterClass on children’s horror, he went on to read nearly 100 of Stine’s books. Somewhere along the way, an idea took hold: a 32-book horror series for kids ages 9–13 called The Shiver Series, where each story introduces a new monster or dark creature.

The first book, You Have Monsieur Monster for Third, is now complete—and it’s only the beginning of Owen’s mission to help kids rediscover the fun of reading. More books in the series are already on the way.

When he isn’t writing, Owen is usually creating in some form—making music on piano, guitar, and ukulele, dancing with a focus on hip hop, or acting in his sister’s films, where performing has become a passion. He Also enjoys making films of his own.

“Opa,” the pen name he uses for his books, comes from his initials—Owen Preston Andrews—as well as his Greek-American roots, where the word is shouted in celebration.
